What is Included in This Software Package -------------------------------------------- This software release contains MG-SOFT Network Discovery SDK, which includes MG-SOFT Network Discovery API, supporting binaries, required header and lib files, and a sample command line application (Mgdiscovery.exe) that utilizes MG-SOFT Network Discovery API. MG-SOFT Network Discovery API is an application programming interface for developing software that discovers network devices and their interconnections. By utilizing the API, an arbitrary network management application can perform network discovery operation in order to determine layer 2 and layer 3 topology of the discovered network. MG-SOFT Network Discovery API utilizes Apache Xerces XML Parser for C++ in accordance with the Apache License, Version 2.0, specified in the "THIRD-PARTY-LICENSES.TXT" file that installs with the software. ============================================================================ 2. Running MG-SOFT Network Discovery Sample Application ------------------------------------------------------- The software package includes, among others, also MG-SOFT Network Discovery Sample Application (Mgdiscovery.exe) that utilizes MG-SOFT Network Discovery API. When invoked, this command line utility performs the network discovery operation and produces an XML output file containing the discovery results, according to the configuration specified in the initialization file (Mgdiscovery.ini). The format of "Mgdiscovery.ini" file and all available parameters and their valid values are described in the "MGdiscoveryINI.pdf" file located in the \Doc subfolder. After you have configured the "Mgdiscovery.ini" file, you can run the MG-SOFT Network Discovery Sample Application from the command prompt. To do that, open the Command Prompt window, change to the "MG-SOFT\Network Discovery SDK\Bin" folder and run the application by typing its name (Mgdiscovery.exe) into the command prompt. In order to obtain meaningful results, you must be running the discovery application with either regular license.key file or evaluation license.key file.
